June's Cosmic Reset: The Gemini New Moon, Mercury Retrograde, Venus in Leo, & Chiron in Taurus {+ meanings for all signs}
The Gemini New Moon & All That She Ushers In
The last Full Moon in Sagittarius
Was about acknowledging truths- Whether it be ours, others’, the collective’s, or all of the above. These truths could have been buried or already known, either way we were guided into no longer avoiding these truths. As the Moon made her way through the zodiac over the last two weeks, we have been shown what that means for all areas of our lives.
Two days before this Gemini New Moon, Mercury
Entered its Pre-Retrograde Shadow period.
Mercury Retrogrades are famous for issues and delays in communication, technology, and travel. This Mercury Retrograde is in the Moon’s home of Cancer. Cancer is a cardinal water sign, representing initiatory energy in the areas of intuition, emotion intelligence, somatic sensitivity, empathy, nurturing, family, ancestral foundations, home and security. Like the phases of the Moon, Cancer’s mood can fluctuate. And like the Crab which it is symbolized by, Cancer is protective, to the point of avoidance, masking, or defensiveness. These themes are what this Mercury Retrograde in Cancer will bring us.
The Pre-Shadow Retrograde period is a two week preview of what Mercury Retrograde will bring us. Which is the exact length of time it is till the next Full Moon in Capricorn, and is why Mercury Retrograde starts that same day. Thus, this synchronistic relationship between the Moon and Mercury is not just a huge part of this New Moon, but the entire month of June ‘26.
Furthermore, this New Moon is in Mercury’s home sign of Gemini. As a mutable air sign, Gemini represents intellect, learning, mental agility, curiosity, dexterity, adaptability, sociability, communication (both the act itself and forms of communication), and local travel. Gemini is symbolized by the Twins, and thus also represents siblings, duality, and polarity, sometimes to the point of two-faced manipulative duplicity.
While Sagittarius is the sign of the teacher, Gemini is the sign of the student. Carrying on the torch of the last lunar cycle, this Gemini New Moon is all about the start of the journey of learning how to integrate truths illuminated and highlighted by the last Full Moon in Sagittarius. This New Moon “marks the beginning of a six week period which thrusts us into intense, emotional, personal transformation. By the time the Full Moon in Capricorn rolls in at the end of June, we will be knee deep in taking accountability and responsibility for the changes we must take.” (from my June ‘26 Astrology Guide.)
This framework helps us understand this Mercury Retrograde, as well as why it is so deeply connected to the current lunar cycle. We are being guided to internally check up on the authenticity of our emotional expression and communication. Furthermore, in regards to the last Full Moon, were we the ones burying or not acknowledging truths? What mental and emotional patterns, behaviors, and shadows led to that? This is what this lunar cycle and Mercury Retrograde are all about.
This shift into heart-aligned authenticity is also emphasized by Venus…
Exiting the inwardly driven waters of Cancer and ingressing into the expressive fires of Leo.
As I shared in my June ‘26 Astrology Guide…
“In Cancer, Venus craves and creates love that feels like home, expressing affection through unconditional nurturing. In Leo, Venus craves and creates passionate love, expressing affection through creativity, warm generosity, and bold acknowledgement. Venus will be in Leo through July 9th.
While the Cancerian crab can still strike with its claws, it can retreat into its shell and scurry away with ease. The Leo lion however, carries so much strength that in times of trouble, it doesn’t feel the need to retreat and roars loudly. This symbolism is important to keep in mind to understand the shadow and light aspects of Venus in Leo.
I mention this polarity because of how Venus is triggered for almost half of its time in Leo by an opposition to Pluto in Aquarius. The core tension of the Leo-Aquarius axis is personal integrity vs collective integrity. Venus in Leo asks us if we are being true to our heart, passions, and spirit. Pluto in Aquarius asks us if this is beneficial for the collective and its evolution. This could dig up control issues, unfair power dynamics, and hidden motives within your relationships. You may feel stifled creatively or individually, or you may come out of such a situation.
Of course, there is balance and synthesis to be found within the two questions these planets pose. A combination which creates the ultimate fusion of leadership and community through the understanding that individuality is not stifled but empowers and is empowered by communal livelihood. Your learned wisdom, unique voice and perspective are needed in your community as we all navigate the ongoing polycrisis and systemic collapse.
This synthesis is cosmically reflected by the Grand Cradle that Venus-Pluto opposition becomes the spine of. Venus also trines Neptune in Aries and sextiles Uranus in Gemini as soon as it enters Leo, on top of the aforementioned opposition. Thus, the integration of Aquarian equality and Leo passion is made possible through the visionary pioneering of Neptune in Aries and innovative shock of Uranus in Gemini. Lasting through June 22nd, this Grand Cradle is the signature of the Lunar Cycle initiated on June 14th. The transformative energy of this potent aspect pattern of course plays into Mercury’s entire Retrograde in Cancer, including both the Pre and Post Shadow periods, further pushing us into personal as well as somatic re-evaluation and evolution…
[Furthermore, on] June 14th, during the peak of the Lunar darkness, the New Moon conjoins the Sun in Gemini and opposes Lilith. This is the ‘aha’ moment. The May 31st Sagittarius Full Moon told us we need to honor our truth and the truth- the June 14th New Moon shows us why. Thus, this month’s New Moon arrives with the purpose of pushing us to accept the growth journey with openness and curiosity, rather than resistance or avoidance.
