Virgo Season Pt. 2: Retrograding into Fall
At the time of posting this, it has been four days since the September 10th Virgo New Moon. However, this New Moon rang in Mercury in Libra, Uranus Retrograde in Gemini and Venus in Scorpio. Thus, this New Moon will be felt for quite a while. Additionally, in a few days, Chiron retrogrades back into Aries for the last time before ingressing back into Taurus for six years starting next April. Let’s break down all of this, starting with the Virgo New Moon and how it shapes all of these transits.
That New Moon in Virgo
The Basics
As stated in my blog post Virgo Season Pt. 1,

The Moon represents the innermost part of ourselves- our subconscious and intuition. The Moon also represents the nurturing mother, the divine feminine, the yin to the sun’s yang. The Moon’s gravitational pull is the driver of the earth’s tides, representing the emotional waters of our collective conscious and unconscious. New Moons symbolize new beginnings and all they bring—a fresh start, setting intentions, and the introspection required to ensure you are and can continue to be aligned with the path ahead. When the intuitive, initiatory energy of the New Moon grounds itself through Virgo’s mutable earth, the cosmos offers a clean canvas to refine your reality through practical magic. Virgo New Moons are potent, grounding resets where your deep subconscious meets the tangible, physical world. It is a sacred moment to turn inward, pull back your emotional tides, and anchor new intentions into your daily life with clarity, care, and purpose.
The 9/10 Virgo New Moon Portal
According to Merriam-Webster, a portal is defined as “a door, gate, or entrance, especially a large, grand, or imposing one.” Its etymology comes from the Latin word porta, meaning "gate" or "passage" (Merriam-Webster, 2026).
A normal New Moon shifts the energy for a few days. A portal opens when multiple planetary bodies change direction or signs simultaneously, magnifying the energetic impact. While this Portal started on September 10th and technically lasts through the 14th when this New Moon phase ends, you still should be able to tap into this energy through the 16th due to a powerful Mercury Grand Kite we’ll discuss in a bit.
In the early morning of September 10th (for most North Americans), Venus entered her detriment in Scorpio and immediately began a seven day opposition to Chiron, which is retrograding at the very start of Taurus. Eight hours later, Mercury ingressed into Libra. Two hours after that, Uranus stationed retrograde. Finally, nine hours later was the peak of the New Moon. We will of course dive into all these transits individually. Before we do, it is vital to understand the importance of all these occurring the day of this Virgo New Moon.
There’s one thing all these transits have in common, and that's the act of reviewing. Mercury ingressed into Libra, a sign symbolized by the scales of justice. Venus, Uranus, and Chiron are all in pivotal points of their own retrograde cycles. While these retrogrades were cosmically activated by this New Moon, they of course will last much longer than this Lunar Portal. On top of that, Neptune, Saturn and Pluto are additionally all retrograding. That means that right now, there are five planetary bodies in retrograde with more to come. This is what I mean when I say that this New Moon Portal brings us into the major realignment phase that is the rest of this year.
Issues rooted in misalignment within the areas of life that these retrograde planets represent are bound to arise to direct us towards that which we are aligned with. However, the thing about retrogrades is that the planet isn’t actually moving backwards, only appears to be. So, whatever ego deaths, healing work, trying situations, and life shifts these retrogrades bring are not to pull us backwards but to alchemically propel us forward.
Mercury in Libra
Basics
Mercury represents communication, intellect, and adaptability. Mercury strives to accomplish mental agility, learning, and the establishment of connections through exchange of ideas, commerce, and rational problem-solving. All of this was passed down to Virgo and Gemini, which Mercury rules over.
Libra is a cardinal (initiatory) air sign ruled by Venus, the planet of love, beauty, creativity and harmony. This sign aims to accomplish balance, diplomacy, and the establishment of harmony, partnerships, and aesthetically pleasing balance through cooperation and relational fairness. Shadows involve indecisive codependency, superficial harmony, and conflict avoidance breeding resentment.
In Libra, Mercury refines cardinal air’s diplomatic balance, fostering harmonious communication and rational partnerships. Commonalities are social rationality, fair ideas and relational problem-solving. Mercury in Libra aims to accomplish diplomatic intellect and balanced learning, establishing exchanges through harmonious communication and fair rationality. Differences arise from Libra’s initiatory equilibrium and indecision refining Mercury’s versatility into aesthetic debate, which prioritizes aesthetic fairness over Gemini’s variety or Aquarius’s detachment and lacks full alliance, resulting in graceful but vacillating communication. Shadows manifest as indecisiveness, stalling, superficiality, avoidance tendencies, people-pleasing, rationalizations that compromise truth, turning balanced exchanges into evasive diplomacy and relational over-accommodation.
Important Transits
Grand Kite
As soon as Mercury enters Libra, it opposes Neptune Rx in Aries as well as trines Pluto Rx in Aquarius and Uranus Rx in Gemini. The three aforementioned outer planets are currently part of a six years long Minor Triangle, as Pluto Rx in Aquarius trines Uranus Rx in Gemini, with both planets forming a sextile to Neptune Rx in Aries as the apex. The Pluto Rx-Uranus Rx trine provides the relentless, electric momentum to dismantle outdated ways of being, while Neptune Rx in Aries, a fierce clarifier, catches that energy at the apex, granting us the spiritual and ideological courage to dream a radically different world into existence. This alignment is the defining astrological signature of our era. It signals a protracted, unavoidable period of deep structural, systemic, social, and societal shifts. As Mercury aspects these planets, it becomes the base of a Grand Kite. Pluto Rx and Uranus Rx are still the wings, and Neptune Rx is still the Apex.
A great way to understand Grand Kites is to think of them as a cosmic slingshot. The Grand Trine— in this case, an air Grand Trine between Mercury, Pluto Rx, and Uranus Rx— is the Elastic Band. While Grand Trines brings immense natural talent and luck, they can also breed complacency. Because the energy flows in a closed loop, there is no inherent pressure to do anything with it. It is like a high-quality, highly flexible rubber band sitting loosely on a table, full of potential, but entirely stationary. The base— in this case, Mercury— is the stone on the point of that rubber band pulled back by a hand making aim at its opposing target, gathering all the stress, friction, and raw motivation necessary to turn the potential energy of the Grand Trine into an attained goal. The goal is the apex— in this case, Neptune Retrograde.
The Grand Air Trine represents the material properties and internal dynamic charge of the band itself. Uranus Rx provides high-voltage curiosity and adaptability, Pluto Rx provides progressive power and regenerative properties, and Mercury provides rationality and balance. Mercury holds a dual role as both part of the band's material composition and the exact point where the stone of this slingshot is pulled back. As the base, this Mercurial hand is aiming for understanding dialogue, harmony, fairness, and refined discernment. The goal is attained at and through the qualities of Neptune Rx in Aries, because the apex represents the target, the release valve, and the physical manifestation of the entire configuration. Without this apex, the Air Grand Trine remains trapped in the head—an infinite loop of brilliant ideas, internal rewiring, and endless analysis. Neptune Rx in Aries is the exact outlet where that mental pressure transforms into real-world realization. This powerful, potent Grand Kite started on September 10th, as soon as Mercury entered Libra, and will be felt through the 16th.

On a personal level, this energy will probably cause a sudden release of long-standing mental friction, snapping you out of creative paralysis and forcing over-analyzed concepts into crisp, tangible execution. While the Grand Air Trine generates an electric circuit of raw genius and systemic rewiring, it is the tension held at the Mercurial base that finally pulls the slingshot back. From September 14th through 22nd, Mercury will oppose Saturn Rx, which is retrograding in Aries. In Libra, Mercury wants peace, diplomatic communication, and balanced, collaborative thinking. However, it faces a harsh reality check from Saturn Rx in Aries, which is actively auditing our self-assertion, personal boundaries, and independent drive.(my Saturn + Neptune Rx Guide for more).
However, this battle of discernment is given an opportunity for expansion when Mercury sextiles Jupiter in Leo, which has been trining Saturn since August 6th. This creates a unique aspect pattern called a Wedge, with Mercury and Saturn Rx as the wings and Jupiter as the apex.
Jupiter symbolizes expansion, wisdom, and benevolence. In Leo, it seeks to accomplish dramatic wisdom, creative ferocity, and generous growth, establishing prosperity through loyal and heart-led exploration. As I stated above, Jupiter has been trining Saturn since early August and will be through September 24th. This trine grounds Jupiter’s grand Leo visions with Saturn's need for structural review, ensuring your passionate ambitions are built on a realistic, sustainably determined baseline. From September 19th through 24th, Mercury sextiles Jupiter. This cooperative link offers a sudden mental shift. Gemini is a mutable air sign ruled by Mercury. As we discussed, Mercury is the planet of communication, intellect, adaptability, mental agility, ideas and exchanges. It strives to accomplish versatility, curiosity, and the establishment of communication, adaptability, and intellectual connections through duality and information exchange. Shadows involve superficial duality, scattered restlessness, and deceptive adaptability evading depth.
In Gemini, Uranus amplifies the sign’s versatile nature, providing sharp rebelliousness for mental, intellectual, social, societal and cultural advancement. Commonalities include air’s adaptability; differences lie in Gemini’s duality, enabling rapid shifts unlike Aquarius’s fixed elevation. Because Uranus in Gemini operates under the dispositorship of Mercury, mapping the internal mechanics of Uranus retrograde requires following Mercury's journey across its journey through the zodiac. I’ve split this into three phases, based around Mercury’s upcoming retrograde cycle in October. Phase 1, from September 10th through October 3rd, leverages Libra's relational equilibrium in diplomatic Libra to bring intellectual clarity before Mercury enters early Scorpio to prime the psyche for subterranean investigation. Phase 2, from October 4th through November 11th, anchors entirely within Scorpio's fixed water, driving a rigorous retrograde audit of power dynamics, suppressed grievances, and defensive suspicion to distill raw intensity into unshakable emotional authority. Phase 3, from December 1st 2026 through February 7th 2027, expands through philosophical Sagittarius, grounds into strategic Capricorn, and elevates through visionary Aquarius before dissolving into Piscean haze for a final review before Uranus stations direct on February 7 and Mercury retrogrades again two days later. Tracing this mercurial roadmap transforms unpredictable Uranian clutter into a structured path of alchemy and evolution.
Personally, Phase 1 will force a rigorous deconstruction of performativism, evasive diplomacy, and people-pleasing scripts before they erode authenticity. Driven by potent aspect patterns that spark decisive intellectual breakthroughs, this shift manifests collectively through high-stakes legal realignments and demands for structural equity over cosmetic compromise. As Mercury crosses into Scorpio’s fixed water on September 30, both the personal and collective narratives transition rapidly from aesthetic equilibrium to subterranean investigation, sharpening psychological optics to unearth buried motives, unspoken power dynamics, and hidden boundary leaks right as the cosmic spotlight turns inward.

Venus in Scorpio
Basics
As stated above, Venus is the planet of love, beauty, creativity and harmony. It seeks pleasure, relationships, passion, art, aesthetic balance, and unions through diplomacy and sensual enjoyment. Shadows emerge as indulgent hedonism, relational codependency, superficiality, and compromising values for pleasure. We can see these qualities exemplified by Libra (as we discussed) and Taurus, which Venus rules over.
Scorpio is a fixed water sign, co-ruled by Mars (hellenistic/traditional) and Pluto (modern). Mars represents action, desire, courage, assertion, drive, and aggression. Pluto represents power, intensity, regeneration, the underworld, death, rebirth, evolution and deep shadows. Scorpio seeks transformation as well as the establishment of truth, power, and emotional resilience through investigation and regeneration. Shadows emerge as jealous obsession, vengeful secrecy, and destructive power distorting resilience.
Because it sits opposite of Taurus, one of Venus’s domicile’s, Venus is in detriment in Scorpio. Scorpio’s fixed water can easily turn harmony possessive. Commonalities include intensity, but differences scatter pleasure in mysterious passion or aggression, requiring indirect methods. Commonalities encompass water’s emotional resilience and unifying flow. In Scorpio, Venus seeks to accomplish authentic, transformative connection and intense, deep beauty, establishing unions through regenerative sensuality and power. Differences arise from Scorpio’s fixed depth. Shadows manifest as controlling tendencies, vengefulness, obsession, and possessiveness.
As stated earlier, Venus has been in the midst of it’s pre-retrograde shadow phase since August 31st. The closer we get to when Venus stations retrograde on October 3rd, the more amplified the retrograde symptoms will get. Given that Venus is both starting and spending most of its retrograde in Scorpio, this ingress is an unavoidable threshold into the underworld, where polite pleasantries officially yield to Scorpio's unyielding demand for psychological truth.
When Venus turns retrograde, the energy of connection, aesthetics, and self-worth turns inward. It acts as a relational and financial audit: external charm slows down so you can evaluate whether your partnerships, values, and boundary structures are grounded in genuine depth or superficial convenience. The pre-shadow phase acts as a narrative preview. As Venus moves forward across the exact degrees it will later backtrack over, it uncovers the specific issues, dynamics, and friction points that will require deep processing during the actual retrograde. Moving into fixed water and detriment, the shadow phase deepens significantly. The issues shift from surface imbalance to unspoken power dynamics, trust issues, possessiveness, suppressed desires, or intense triggers and conflict. Events during this window reveal what is secretly lurking beneath the surface of your connections. Because Venus in Scorpio cannot rely on easy charm, the retrograde forces a metamorphosis. It takes the codependency or superficiality of Venus’ shadows and subjects it to Scorpio's fire of truth, burning away attachments that lack integrity. These last couple weeks of Venus’ pre-retrograde shadow phase will help us notice where control, unspoken expectations, or fear of intimacy are quietly eroding a connection.
Important Transit: T-Square
Like I stated earlier, as soon as Venus entered Scorpio on September 10th it began a seven day opposition to Chiron Rx in Taurus. Chiron, the wounded healer, is all about alchemizing pain into wisdom. When retrograding in Taurus, Chiron shifts its focus from external to internal security. It demands that you ground yourself in an unshakeable sense of self-worth and trust. As Venus in its shadow phase begins to stir up unspoken relationship tension or push for deeper vulnerability, it directly pokes Chiron Rx in Taurus's sensitive spots: the fear of losing control, physical instability, or core security. Intimacy swiftly shifts into feeling like a threat to your personal foundations. This opposition is the spine of a severely powerful T-Square, as both Venus and Chiron Rx squared Pluto Rx in Aquarius at the same time as this opposition.
A T-square concentrates the tension of an opposition and funnels it directly into a third planet, making Pluto Rx the non-negotiable pressure valve for this entire transit. Something worth noting to understand the intensity of this transit is mutual reception and overall planetary conditions. Since Venus rules Taurus, Venus rules over Chiron Rx currently. Furthermore, Pluto is in its fall in Aquarius. Commonalities are collective power, but difficulties stem from the differences between Aquarius intellectual elevation and Plutonian subterranean alchemy. While Aquarius climbs to a mountaintop to see the entire grid of human society, Pluto wants to dig into the underground to uncover what is buried beneath the surface. However, due to that six years long Minor Triangle its a part of, Pluto Rx has some clarifying, visionary, high-octane help from Neptune Rx and Uranus Rx.
Because Venus rules Taurus while struggling in Scorpio, the Venus-Chiron Rx spine creates an unstable feedback loop between personal insecurity and relational volatility that can only be resolved through Pluto's harsh yet objective truths, breakthroughs and transformations. When the Venus-Chiron Rx opposition threatens to drag you into a battle over values, worth, control or instability, Pluto Rx in Aquarius provides the exit ramp. Step out of the emotional fray, dismantle the old mental script keeping you hooked, and choose psychological freedom over familiar power struggles.

This T-Square ends on September 17th, when Chiron regresses back into Aries. Through this transit, Chiron Rx is forced into an internal audit of security, boundaries, and intrinsic value. We are being pushed to confront where low self-worth, survival anxiety, and rigid, unsustainable expectations are still causing us to compromise personal and collective sovereignty. As Chiron regresses back into Aries on September 17th, the energy shifts dramatically from what you value back to who you are at your core.
Chiron Rx in Aries
Chiron represents where one carries a deep, core level trauma and pain that you cannot really erase, but which becomes your greatest source of wisdom, empathy, and spiritual mastery. It’s the bridge between physical suffering and higher consciousness. This asteroid rules over un-healable wounds, psychological trauma, chronic insecurity, rites of passage, spiritual integration, and healing. It seeks transmutation of pain into purpose, authentic integration, the bridging of dualities, and radical acceptance. It’s shadows manifest as victimization, savior/martyr complex, cynicism, pessimism, resignation, and spiritual bypassing.
Aries is a cardinal fire sign ruled by Mars, the planet of action, desire, courage, assertion, drive, and aggression. It seeks bold initiation, courage, and the establishment of independence, leadership, and pioneering energy through direct action and self-assertion. Shadows include impulsivity leading to recklessness, aggression, individualism, egoicism, identity issues, overextension and burnout.
In Aries, Chiron utilizes the sign’s cardinal fire to alchemically help us assert yourself, handle conflict, and step into leadership. When Chiron is in retrograde in Aries, the healing work shifts from external situations to the internal relationship with your own agency, desires, and identity. This fosters deep personal review, emotional self-honesty, and the quiet reclamation of personal sovereignty. Commonalities are martial self-examination, existential truth-seeking, and the transmutation of internalized survival trauma. Chiron Rx in Aries aims to accomplish psychological self-advocacy and unshakeable inner authority, establishing core alignment through nervous system rewiring, anger integration, and the dismantling of inherited survival anxiety. Differences arise from the retrograde’s reflective pressure redirecting Aries’s outward momentum into an internal crucible, which prioritizes self-reliance over external conquest or reactive confrontation, resulting in a contemplative warrior archetype that audits where autonomy has been compromised. Shadows manifest as paralyzing existential shame, suppressed anger turned inward, hyper-individualistic survivalism, self-doubt, destructive self-blame, defensive withdrawal, and low self-image. Chiron will be retrograde in Aries through January 5th 2027, when it stations direct.
On a personal level, this transit operates as a profound psychological crucible, redirecting fire inward to strip away performative bravado and force an absolute confrontation with your existential right to exist. By pulling back from external battles, this retrograde energy will trigger an intense identity audit, exposing where hyper-independence, defensive isolation, and the "lone-wolf" archetype are actually survival masks disguising deep-seated fears of vulnerability or rejection.
