Shadow Work Saturday, Vol. 14: Solar Eclipses

So in case you were unaware, Mother Moon does not light up on her own. She reflects the Sun’s light, which is how she shines.

“The Sun represents the vitality of our consciousness, the yang to the Moon’s Yin. The Yang is said to represent the light, clarity, forward action and intellect.

Importantly, the Sun is the primary source of energy for most ecosystems on Earth. Its light and heat are essential for plant growth and survival. As plants use photosynthesis, they become the foundation for the food chain. Without the sun, life on Earth as we know it would not be possible. Keeping all this in mind, as an Archetype, the Sun represents our role in the circle of life- how we give life to the world. How we give and/or take light to and from Earth and all her beautiful creatures. Furthermore the Sun represents the ego, our mind, our identity, our sense of self, vitality, stamina, and energy.

Our identity is heavily impacted by how we interact with the world around us. Our life experiences shape and influence our personality, knowledge and social skills as well as behaviors. All of which influences our core values and beliefs about ourselves, others, and the world.”(Shadow Work 🪐Days, Vol. 7: The Sun on my Instagram!)

Reflection is about introspection, contemplation, consideration, awareness, and realization. This is why the moon represents “the innermost part of ourselves- our subconscious and intuition…the nurturing mother, the divine feminine, the yin to the sun’s yang.

‘The Yin Yang symbol is half white and half black, each side representing a polar opposite. Note, too, that the symbol is neither predominately white nor predominately black, but equal portions of each.’ (Tao.org, 2025). ‘The Yin and Yang principles act on one another, affect one another and keep one another in place.’ (Chuang Zhu).

The Moon’s gravitational pull is the driver of the earth’s tides, representing the emotional waters of our collective conscious and unconscious.” (Witchy Wednesdays Vol. 3: The Moon on my Instagram!)

The depth, serenity, and power of the moon is due to its constant introspection, contemplation, and consideration of the personal and collective ego. This energy comes to a head, major endings and beginnings, during the eclipses.

Lunar Eclipses only occur during full moons. “Full Moons represent illumination, completion, manifestation, success, intuition, clarity, power & fruition. It is the culmination point of what has been brewing & manifesting in your life since the New Moon, & is an incredibly powerful time for self reflection as well as spiritual and magickal practices.” (Shadow Work 🪐Days, Vol. 10: Full Moons on my Instagram!) Thus, lunar eclipses further intensify this energy, ushering in major endings to push towards new beginnings. Furthermore, Lunar Eclipses occur when the Earth blocks sunlight from reaching the moon. The juxtaposition of the clarity of the Full Moon and the Earth blocking the sun’s light makes for a time of the powerful revealing of hidden truths and shadows.

The last Full Moon was a Blood Moon Total Lunar Eclipse in the intuitive, compassionate, dreamy, sensitive Neptune-ruled mutable sign of Pisces. The reddish hue that creates the Blood Moon comes from how Earth’s atmosphere scatters the blue/green colors, leaving the orange/red colors to reach our eyes. This Eclipse brought transformation, healing, and major spiritual growth. The tension that brings forth this growth is what is ushering in the new beginnings of this Solar Eclipse.

Solar eclipses are also a time of major endings and beginnings, and only occur during New Moons. “New Moons symbolize new beginnings and all they bring—a fresh start, setting intentions, and the introspection required to ensure you are and can continue to be aligned with the path ahead.” (Witchy Wednesdays, Vol. 10: July 24 ‘2025 New Moon Energy Breakdown on my Instagram!) Keeping this in mind, Solar Eclipses occur when the Moon blocks the Sun’s light from reaching the Earth. As the Sun’s light represents vitality and clarity, the temporary blocking of that light spiritually forces us to find that clarity and vitality within. To find and connect with the light within us, our souls. A time of letting go of what no longer serves you in order to embrace deeper truths and step into a more authentic, sustainable, intentional way of being.

This Solar Eclipse is in the analytical, hard-working, intelligent, helpful, mutable, Mercury-Ruled earth sign of Virgo. This Solar Eclipse is intensified by a conjunction between the Sun, Moon, and Mercury activating a Grand Kite with Saturn Retrograde in Pisces, Neptune Retrograde in Aries, Uranus Retrograde in Gemini, Pluto Retrograde in Aquarius. Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto have all been dancing together in this triangular/kite formation since mid-late August 2025, and will continue this tango over the next few years (through 2028).

In mid-late August, the triangle between Chiron, Saturn, and Neptune in Aries, Uranus in Gemini, and Pluto in Aquarius was activated by Mars in Libra forming a kite. All fire and air signs. As I said at the time, “Whether we like it or not, whether we are ready or not, collective rebirth is here. And this is again, just the beginning. There’s plenty of oxygen to stoke these fires. As the contractions of this rebirth intensify, what are you going to do? Will you cling to the ashes of individualism—scattering yourself in prideful isolation—or will you surrender to this transformation into a feather among the wings of the collective phoenix rising?” (Shadow Work 🪐Days Vol. 13: August '25 Full Moon- Energy Breakdown + Shadow Work Prompts + Divination Spread! on my Instagram!)

Keeping in mind that this Solar Eclipse is in the earth sign of Virgo, we are being asked to face these questions head on. To utilize our learned wisdoms as we recognize the unavoidability and thus the opportunity of this rebirth. To break out of harmful, destructive, exploitative, materialistic ways of relating, creating, and being. To act accordingly, with intentionality and purpose so that we can successfully plant and grow seeds of equitability, sustainability, justice, and love in this rebirth, with the understanding that livelihood of all humanity and Mother Earth herself depend on it.
